By Andre Paine, London

Live Nation has acquired the operating company for the 5,500-capacity Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam.

Black Box Theater Exploitatie BV manages and holds the 20-year lease for the venue, which is the only one of its size in the Dutch capital. Live Nation will now change the name of the company to Live Nation Venues (Netherlands) BV.

The Heineken Music Hall hosts more than 145 concerts a year, including recent performances by Bob Dylan, Lionel Richie, Lou Reed, Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs, alongside local acts.

Live Nation says the acquisition will further strengthen its market position in the Netherlands, which is the third largest international market for the live music company, after the U.K. and Belgium.

"The Heineken Music Hall is one of the world's best mid-sized music venues and will further diversify our business in a very important music market," said Alan Ridgeway, CEO of Live Nation's International Music division, in a statement. "We are looking forward to taking over the management reins of this excellent venue to provide music fans with the best live music and venue experience possible."
