May 09, 2007

By Antony Bruno, N.Y.

The Walt Disney Company has launched an online digital music and video service called Disney Mix Central.

The site features downloadable music and videos from both Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records, as well as podcasts and video clips from the Disney Channel and its film properties. Tracks will sell for 99 cents, albums for $10 and music videos for $2.

Users can search the site by they usual artist, track and album keywords, but also by demographics such as "boys," and "kids & teens."

The service was designed to complement its Disney Mix Stick MP3 player and the Disney Mix Max video/MP3 player, but it will be compatible with other devices that support Microsoft's Windows DRM technology.

Disney says new music will be added to the service as it is released.
