April 30, 2007

Todd Martens, Chicago

Famed Chicago indie Touch & Go Records will unveil a digital download store this summer. Label founder Corey Rusk tells Billboard.com that the site should launch sometime in June.

The site promises to carry Touch & Go's current and catalog roster, and will be the only place online to purchase downloads from any of Steve Albini's bands Big Black, Rapeman and Shellac, the latter of which will issue a new album, "Excellent Italian Greyhound," on June 5.

Rusk says the site was more than nine months in the making, and will carry music in the non-DRM MP3 format. He adds that the site will sell singles and full albums, and pricing will be on par with digital standards of 99 cents per song and $9.99 per album.

As previously reported, one of Touch & Go's next big releases includes Pinback's "Autumn of the Seraphs," due this summer.
