Influential hip-hop blogger Karen Civil, who has also worked on marketing campaigns for several acts on Young Money Records, has been appointed digital marketing manager at headphone company Beats by Dre, Billboard.biz has learned.

Civil declined to provide details about her new post but presumably she will be based in Los Angeles. At press time, a rep for the company had not responded to Billboard.biz's request for comment.

Last month, longtime Interscope/Geffen exec Luke Wood was appointed president and COO of Beats Electronics,  the company started by IGA chairman Jimmy Iovine and rapper-producer Dr. Dre in 2006. Beats Electronics produces Beats by Dre headphones.

Most recently, Civil served as online media coordinator at Young Money Records. In 2008, she founded the hip-hop blog KarenCivil.com. She is also one of Billboard's Twitter 140.
