Known these days for his more reclusive nature, Neutral Milk Hotel's Jeff Mangum made a surprise appearance last night (Oct. 4), performing for onlookers and activists at Occupy Wall Street, the pop up protest currently taking place in Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan. The performance was also streamed online via Livestream (which you can watch above), where viewership grew the longer Mangum played, fueled by Twitter trending topics and an overall viral frenzy.

Coming off of a number of performances at All Tomorrow's Parties in Asbury Park, NJ this past weekend, Mangum treated the crowd to a number of songs off his former band Neutral Milk Hotel's seminal album "In The Aeroplane Over the Sea." Mangum even started taking requests saying "I'm here to serve you, what do you want to here?"

Mangum's impromptu concert comes off the heels of a recent gaffe by Occupy Wall Street, spreading the rumor that Radiohead would play at the protest September 30th.

Jeff Mangum's Occupy Wall Street Setlist:
"Themselves" (Minutemen Cover)
"Holland, 1945" "Ghost" "Song Against Sex"
"Two Headed Boy, Pt. 2"
"In the Aeroplane Over the Sea"
"King of Carrot Flowers Part 1" "Oh Comely"
