Branden Chapman, the Recording Academy's executive in charge of production/chief business officer, and Consul General of Canada David Fransen (L-R) flank Melanie Fiona following her performance.

Melanie Fiona launched the first Grammys @ Canada House showcase in Los Angeles on Aug. 24. The two-time Grammy Award nominee and Toronto native performed before an intimate gathering at the home of David Fransen, Consul General of Canada. Accompanied only by guitar, Fiona sang several songs from her 2009 SRC/Universal debut album "The Bridge," including "Give It to Me Right" and "It Kills Me." Then she gave the audience a hint of what's in store on her fall-slated sophomore set "The MF Life," performing several cuts: "Change the Record," Gone and Never Coming Back" and latest single "4 A.M."

Outlining the genesis for Grammys @ Canada House, Consul General Fransen noted, "We're making it our business to build connections between Canadian talent and Los Angeles-based opportunities. This series with the Recording Academy is the first in what we're hoping will be a partnership made in heaven." Among the guests in attendance were James Leach, SESAC VP, writer/publisher relations, West Coast Operations and  Ramona Wright, publisher of new online publication Wiles Magazine, targeting influential multicultural women.
