Clear Channel CEO Mark Mays this morning (Aug. 29) continued his role as head cheerleader with a 281-word “MarkGram” memo to all employees encouraging them to embrace and capitalize on the changing media environment and to encourage Clear Channel customers to benefit in the changing environment.

Forrest Named CC/Atlanta President/MM
Clear Channel has announced the appointment of Melissa Forrest (pictured) as president and market manager for the company’s Atlanta cluster. Forrest will oversee all of the operations for regional Mexican WBZY, news/talk WGST, active rock WKLS, country WUBL, classic country WWLG, Latin pop WWVA, the Atlanta Braves Network and the Georgia News Network.

Stations Knocked Off Air Need Emergency STAs, Reminds FCC
As the Gulf Coast states and Florida prepare for a long weekend in the hurricane season, the FCC on Friday afternoon (Aug. 29) observed the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina reaching land with a reminder to broadcasters and other communications providers that if they need emergency Special Temporary Authorizations (STAs) during the weekend or after hours, they can call the FCC’s Operations Center, 202- 418-1122. The center is open around the clock..

Nashville Restarts The Party
Rumors magically become reality as Cromwell returns CHR/top 40 "102.5 the Party" to Nashville; the station formerly known as hot AC WVNS (V102.5) began stunting on Tuesday and relaunched at noon CT on Friday (Aug. 29) under the moniker and format it ditched three years ago, but with new calls WPRT. Cromwell/Nashville OM Troy Hanson, who is also PD of active rock sister WBUZ (102.9 the Buzz), will program the Party.
