Amazon's 99-Cent Lady Gaga 'Born This Way' Promotion Hits Technical Difficulties
May 23, 2011   |    By Glenn Peoples (@billboardglenn), Nashville

Today only, Amazon's MP3 store is selling Lady Gaga's new 14-track album, "Born This Way," for just 99 cents. The title had already become the store's top digital album by 9am ET, but Amazon's network appears to have been negatively impacted by high demand.

Comments at Amazon's "Born This Way" MP3 album page and on Twitter (follow the conversation at @amazonmp3) reveal many fans have encountered technical problems. Judging from the comments, it appears most affected customers have not been able to download all 14 tracks either to their hard drive or Cloud Drive. In addition, the problem appears to be impacting downloads of other albums as well.

As of 1:15pm E.T. the Amazon page for the "Born This Way" MP3 album had 62 one-star ratings (out of 160 total ratings) that complained of downloading problems. Just a few of the 12 two-star reviews noted downloading difficulties.

Amazon first tweet about the problem was sent at 1:17pm E.T.: "We're currently experiencing very high volume. If you order today, you will get the full @ladygaga album for $.99. Thanks for your patience."
