Italian collecting society SIAE has appointed Gaetano Blandini as its new director-general.
The appointment was made following a meeting of the organization's governing body in Rome on Oct. 26.
Blandini, 47, was previously the director of cinema at the Italian Cultural Heritage ministry. He replaces Domenico Caridi, whose two-year mandate expired on Oct. 8.
Caridi left the organization following a meeting of the governing body at the start of the month (Billboard.biz, Oct. 13). He was replaced on an interim basis by assistant director-general Manlio Mallia.
Meanwhile, the future of SIAE's president, Giorgio Assumma, remains unclear. His two-year-mandate expires in November. SIAE have not made any announcement to confirm Assumma's position, but industry sources say that discussion of the president's future has been put off until the next assembly, the date of which has yet to be announced.
At the previous SIAE assembly, which was held on June 23, a large number of members, representing both indie and major publishing concerns, staged a walk-out in protest against the organization's current management.
