Qtrax Inks Baidu Search Deal

November 02, 2009

By By Antony Bruno, Denver

Qtrax, the ad-supported P2P digital music service, has partnered with Chinese Internet portal and search engine Baidu to provide content for music-related search results. Under the deal, Baidu will direct music-related queries from its entertainment portal and Qian Qian Music Online sites to the Qtrax service for artists and songs in the services' catalog.

Baidu is the dominant search engine in China, much like Google is here. Record labels have sued the company in the past for allowing users to stream music from search results without licensing them. The news comes as Qtrax is launching service in a number of Asia-Pacific markets.
