-- Mexican singer/songwriter Julieta Venegas has partnered with Jack Daniel's for its "Studio No. 7 Latino" music series, coinciding with the release of her new album this spring. Venegas will perform seven private shows in seven U.S. cities in April, following the release of her new album on Sony Latin in March.

The shows are part of the Jack Daniel's "Studio No. 7 Latino" series, which launched five years ago and has showcased mostly alternative acts, including Kinky, Aterciopelados and Los Amigos Invisibles. The shows are presented in association with Miami-based marketing and entertainment company Shock Entertainment. Dates and locations will be announced soon.

-- Pop star Paulina Rubio becomes the latest Latin music star to start her own charity. On Dec. 3, at a press conference at ONE Bal Harbour Resort & Spa in Bal Harbour, Fla., the Mexican singer announced the launch of her Fundaci?n Paulina Rubio (Paulina Rubio Foundation) to benefit children living with neurological disorders and their families. The charity was launched in association with the Lili Claire Foundation, which also serves children with neurogenetic disorders and their families. Rubio?s foundation will direct funds through pre-existing organizations like The Lili Claire Foundation. Rubio plans to host a ?Paulina and Friends? concert April, 2010 at the James L. Knight Center in Miami to raise funds for her new organization.
