Sony/ATV, Solis Take ASCAP Latin Honors

Sony/ATV Music Publishing was named publisher of the year and Marco Antonio Solis won songwriter of the year at the 16th Annual ASCAP Latin Music Awards.

Sony/ATV took home publisher of the year Friday (May 16) with 43 songs among the performing rights society?s most played. Marco Antonio Solis attended the ceremony at Miami?s Ritz Carlton Hotel to receive his songwriter of the year award as well as honors in the regional Mexican category.

Victor Manuelle got the Golden Note award for his innovative and enduring contributions as a songwriter and artist. He received the award from fellow star Gilberto Santa Rosa.

Latin Song of the Year went to ?Mi Corazoncito? by Aventura, which also won Hot Latin Song of the Year at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in April. The song was written by Anthony Santos and published by Premium Latin Publishing.

The Vanguard Award went to Black: Guayaba, who performed that evening, as did Omar Alfanno and Sergio George. Other awards included Man??s ?Bendita Tu Luz? for rock/pop song of the year, written by Fher Olvera and published by Tulum Music and WB Music Corp.; regional Mexican song of the year ?Basta Ya? by Marco Antonio Solis, published by Crisma; tropical song of the year ?Shorty Shorty? by Steven Tejada on Univision Songs; and pop song of the year ?Tu Recuerdo? by Tommy Torres on Mostly Sad Songs and WB Music Corp.
