Report: Majors Back Qtrax

June 25, 2007

By By Antony Bruno, Denver

Ad-supported P2P service Qtrax is taking more steps to going live. After telling Billboard of plans to launch by the end of summer, the New York Post today reports that the company has set an October launch date. It also reports that Qtrax has struck licensing deals with all four major labels -- a much-needed element for commercial launch.

Additionally, Qtrax parent company Brilliant Technologies confirmed its long-rumored desire to spin off the music service by merging it with a shell company called Flooring Zone, allowing it to be publicly traded.
