MTV To Collaborate With Yangaroo

April 15, 2010

By By Etan Vlessing, The Hollywood Reporter

MTV Networks' music group has recruited Canadian content distributor Yangaroo to build a secure digital bridge between record labels and its music-driven TV channels.

As part of a multi-year deal to be unveiled Thursday, MTV Networks has agreed to acquire and install Yangaroo's latest 5.0 digital media distribution system to distribute SD and HD TV broadcast-quality music video content to its TV channels securely over the Internet.

The watershed deal for Yangaroo follows the Toronto-based company pioneering the delivery of record label music releases to radio stations via the Internet, without the need to produce or ship CD singles.

The MTV Networks deal marks an inroad for Yangaroo delivering video content to broadcast outlets online without the costly need for duplication and shipping of DVDs.

MTV Networks will start using the Yangaroo digital distribution network to deliver video content to its music video channels MTV, MTV2, VH1, VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul, Country Music Television (CMT) and CMT Pure.
