Miley Cyrus Selling Out U.K., Irish Arenas

June 17, 2009

By By Andre Paine, London

Two more Miley Cyrus shows have been added at London's O2 arena after the U.S. pop singer sold out her first British and Irish dates in minutes, according to promoters AEG Live.

The tour now includes four dates at London O2 Arena after the first announced dates, on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14, quickly sold out on June 12. Cyrus will also play on Dec. 19 and Dec. 20. The venue has a possible capacity of 23,000 although many concerts have a total capacity several thousand less than that.

The Dublin O2 Arena dates on Dec. 16 and Dec. 17 sold out within 10 minutes, according to AEG Live.

"I am thrilled at the response to the shows," said Cyrus in a statement.

The U.K. and Irish dates will be the first chance for European fans to see her on tour. She has previously played more intimate, one-off dates in London including the Regent Street Apple Store in April.

There are also two dates at Birmingham LG Arena (Dec. 22-23) and Manchester Evening News Arena (Dec. 27-28). She will be supported by pop-rock act Metro Station, featuring older brother Trace Cyrus.
