Calgary-based concert promoter the Union Ltd. has announced the acquisition of REMG Entertainment Corp. and the opening of a Toronto office.

Terms of the acquisition were not announced, but the deal makes the Union Canada's largest independently owned concert promoter.

The acquisition of REMG will help the company's expansion into markets in Ontario and Eastern Canada, the company says. REMG is best known for its promotion of hip-hop shows and other urban acts.

"Toronto is the perfect city for the Union to build its east coast presence," says Nhaelan McMillian, the Union's director of touring. "There is a dynamic and ever-growing music and event culture in Toronto and we are just a short hop from Chicago and New York. The Union will now be able to deliver events and tours from coast to coast."
