UMPG Previews New Royalty Tool

June 23, 2008

By By Ed Christman, N.Y.

The Universal Music Publishing Group is demoing its RoyaltyWindow.com system, which allows for flexible reporting and transparent access to tracking royalties, in anticipation of a Fall rollout.

According to a press release, the system will allow UPMG clients/songwriters to access statements and payments; and manage information by time period, song, territory, income type, and source of income. In addition, they may download and save statements to their computer in spreadsheet and money management compatible formats; update contact details; retrieve song information; find answers to frequently asked questions; and easily access helpful industry links.

UMPG's global pilot of Royalty Window has been underway for some time with clients in territories as diverse as U.S., UK, Germany, Scandinavia, Brazil, and Australia. The systems has been demoed to UPMG songwriters and clients on the East Coast last week and this week will be unveiled at a demonstration in Los Angeles (June 25). Results have been extremely encouraging and the launch to UMPG's client base is expected for later in Fall 2008, the company said in a statement.

"As the world's leading publisher, UMPG is pleased to be the 'first mover' in providing our clients access to their royalty and copyright information in a secure, online environment," UMPG chairman and CEO David Renzer said in a statement.
