New iPods To Be iPhone-Like

July 09, 2007

By By Antony Bruno, Denver

According to a prominent analyst tracking Apple's pending product line, a new line of iPods are one the way that are expected to have similar functionality, but without the phone.

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster issued a research note today that points to a new line of iPods this fall to winter that, like the iPhone, will be based on OSX, have a touchscreen interface, and graphical navigational features just like the iPhone. Of course they won't have the wireless phone or the Internet browsing features.

However Munster didn't speculate on the WiFi connectivity that the iPhone has. But since the iPhone has wireless access to iTunes, it's likely we won't see that in the next round of iPods either.
