Peermusic To Release Holly Documentary

January 15, 2009

By By Ed Christman, N.Y.

In anticipation of the 50th anniversary of Buddy Holly's death on Feb.3, 1959, peermusic, the original publisher of the artist's music, will release a new hour-long audio documentary, featuring an exclusive interview with Holly's wife, Maria Elena.

She will provide insights and anecdotes into Holly and their life together. The relationship between peer and the couple goes beyond the professional in that Maria Elena Santiago and Holly first met when she was working as the receptionist for peermusic's New York office.

In addition, the audio-only documentary features interviews with Don McLean, singer-songwriter Paul Anka, as well as Ralph and Elizabeth Peer.

The documentary was commissioned and produced by British music veteran Mark Rowles, and will air on the BBC Feb. 7. Details on its availability in the United States will be announced shortly. Sneak previews can be heard at peermusic.com/buddyholly and myspace.com/peerbuddyholly.
