August 17, 2010

By By Ed Christman

-- The Universal Music Publishing Group has acquired the music publishing assets of Maranatha! Music, and its catalog will be placed under the umbrella of UMG's christian/gospel arm, Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing. The latest deals follows the earlier acquisition of Emack Music, the publishing arm of Christian label Gotee Records in April. Brentwood-Benson president Dale Mathews said in a statement that Maranatha! Music's catalog is one of the most active song catalogs in the Praise and Worship market.

-- Evergreen Copyrights has signed a worldwide administration deal for the Warren Zevon catalog. The catalog consists of about 100 songs, and the top earning ones include "Werewolves of London,? ?Lawyers Guns and Money,? and Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner."
