Fopp's Future Remains Uncertain

June 28, 2007

By By Juliana Koranteng, London

The future of Fopp is apparently still up in the air four days after the U.K. independent specialist music retailer stopped taking payments by credit cards at its stores.

On Monday, the company admitted to "experiencing difficulties" after failing to open its chain of nearly 50 stores on June 22. The company stopped taking orders online and would accept only cash at its tills. Billboard.biz visited one of Fopp's main outlets today, and it appears no progress has been made.

A Fopp spokesman declined to discuss the situation, but suggested there have been no further developments.
