Infectious Goes Native

September 17, 2009

By By Andre Paine, London

U.K. indie Infectious Records has signed L.A.-based alt-rock band Local Natives, which built a buzz after its SXSW appearance this year.

The first release for Infectious in the U.K. will be the single "Camera Talk" on Oct. 19, followed by debut set "Gorilla Manor" on Nov. 2. A European release for the album is planned for Q1 next year.

"Local Natives are a fantastic addition to our roster," said Korda Marshall, founder of Infectious Records, in a statement. "They blew everybody away at SXSW this year and we resolved there and then to sign them if I could. We had to fight off a lot of competition for their signatures so it is a real compliment that they chose us. The band has made a stunning record and everything is stacking up nicely for the campaign ahead."

Local Natives will also be touring the U.K. as part of the forthcoming NME Radar package tour, along with Golden Silvers, Marina & the Diamonds and Yes Giantess, followed by three dates in Europe. The NME tour begins Oct. 26 at Oxford O2 Academy.
