"It's dead simple to write a pop hit," says Axis of Awesome's Benny Davis at the start of the below video, shot at the 2009 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

The secret? Four chords. The same four chords are used in every hit song from the past 40 years, according the band.

The chords? Spoiler alert! They seem to be E, B, D flat and A, according to commenters on Axis' website.
