CMT To Air NBC's 'Nashville Star'

By By Ken Tucker, Nashville

CMT has entered into an agreement with NBC to re-broadcast episodes of the upcoming season of "Nashville Star," the music reality show series that moves from USA Network to NBC.

Season six of the show kicks off on Monday, June 9 on NBC. The first re-broadcast will air on Saturday, June 14 on CMT before moving to its regular Friday night slot the following week.

"Partnering with CMT is a strategic move by [production company] Reveille and NBC to create a brand affiliation for Nashville Star with the biggest television outlet for country music," said executive producer Howard T. Owens, managing director of Reveille, LLC. "To repurpose on CMT was the only natural distribution fit."

Hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus, the show's judge/mentors include Jewel, John Rich and Jeffrey Steele.

The winner or winners of this year's competition will receive a contract with Warner Bros. and the opportunity to perform at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, which will be broadcast on NBC.
