UMG Licenses Music Catalog To Ringboxx

September 04, 2007

By By Antony Buno, Denver

Universal Music Group is licensing its music catalog to the Ringboxx Home Phone Tunes service.

The Ringboxx device is basically a caller ID box users can connect to their home telephone lines, which will also play music in place of the standard ring -- much like a mobile phone.

UMG is the first major label to license music to the service. Until now Ringboxx had deals only with digital distributor The Orchard.
