Britney Taking 'Circus' Tour Down Under

June 10, 2009

By By Lars Brandle, Brisbane

Britney's "Circus" is rolling into Australia. Melbourne-based promoter Dainty Consolidated Entertainment will bring "The Circus Starring Britney Spears" to Australian arenas this November, marking the first time the American pop superstar has performed on these shores.

"I've wanted to tour Australia for quite some time and now it's finally happening," Spears commented in a statement.

Six dates were announced today (June 10), beginning Nov. 6 at Perth's Burswood Dome before moving on for multiple dates at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena and Sydney Acer Arena, and a final one-off show at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Nov. 24.

Spears' over-the-top, $50 million stage production comes with a cast of almost 50 dancers, magicians, clowns and acrobats and a travelling staff of more than 200. Thirty-four trucks will haul 60 tons of equipment for the production.

Tickets will be priced at $99 Australian ($80), $149 Australian ($120) and $199 Australian ($161) and will go on sale from July 3 through Ticketek.

Dressed as a sexy ringmaster, Spears' comeback tour made its debut March 3 in her home state of Louisiana, at the New Orleans Arena.

Although some critics have criticized Spears for lip-syncing, ticket sales for the U.S. dates have been spectacular.

Dainty Consolidated Entertainment's Australasian tours this year include dates from Il Divo, Seal and the World Wrestling Entertainment "Raw" run.
