Britain's digital music market is showing encouraging signs of growth.

During the first quarter, sales of digital albums rose by 69.3% compared with Q1 2007, according to basic figures published today by the Official U.K. Charts Company. Also in the first period of 2008, sales of digital single tracks rose 42.3% compared with the corresponding period of 2007, the charts compiler reports.

The solid opening stanza follows a record year for digital single track and album sales, which the OCC says reached 77.96 million and 6.25 million unit sales, respectively.
