Spotify Launches For iPhone, Android

September 07, 2009

By By Andre Paine, London

Digital music service Spotify has launched its mobile app for the iPhone and iPod Touch and Android-powered phones.

The app is available today (Sept. 7) for free from Android Market and the iTunes App store for Spotify's premium users in the U.K., Sweden, France, Spain, Norway and Finland.

Premium users pay ?9.99 ($16.40) in the U.K. for a higher quality, ad-free version of the free ad-funded streaming service.

The app will work in areas where there is no network coverage, because of an offline mode that allows users to temporarily cache playlists to their phone for use when there is no connection.
