Imeem Signs With EMI

October 29, 2007

By By Antony Bruno, Denver

Music social networking site Imeem has added EMI as the latest major label to license music for the service.

Under the deal, EMI will receive a share of Imeem's advertising revenue in return for allowing Imeem users to stream full versions of their songs on the site. Each participating label's share of the revenue is based on how much their music is played month to month.

EMI joins Sony BMG and Warner Music Group -- plus multiple independent labels and digital aggregators -- in supporting the Imeem service.

Universal Music Group remains the only major label not participating at this time. Imeem says it is in talks with UMG, and defines them as "positive."
