Analyst: Hulu To Match YouTube Revs Next Year

November 18, 2008

By By Antony Bruno, Denver

As Universal Music Group continues to ponder launching a Hulu-like site for music videos, Screen Digest analyst Arash Amel released a prediction that could add momentum to the idea.

According to a Financial Times article, Amel says the Hulu service - a joint venture between News Corp. and NBC Universal - will catch YouTube next year in advertising revenue. Amel forecasts that in 2008 YouTube will generate about $100 million and Hulu will take in $70 million in the U.S. Next year both sites will generate about $180 million in the US, he says.
