Retailer Fnac Reshapes Music Division

March 17, 2010

By By Aymeric Pichevin, Paris

Leading French entertainment retailer Fnac has reorganized its music operation and appointed a new director.

Fnac appointed Bertrand Gstalder to head this reshaped department after the departure of former Fnac music director Bernard Delerue at the end of last month. Gstalder was previously director of Fnac's ticketing operation.

He will report to Fnac France director general Fabien Sfez, who said in
a statement: "By creating a synergy between Fnac's music operations, we intend to provide... a global response to a sector in turmoil."

Fnac has united its digital and physical sales operations as well as its ticketing and merchandising businesses under the music division. Gstalder will now start to create synergies in that reshaped division.

The music division remains in a department that also includes video and video games.
