November 28, 2007

By By Lars Brandle, London

Ricall is expanding into the United States.

The online music marketplace has appointed Ed Razzano to lead the new stateside operations as VP of business development.

Razzano, until recently senior director of film and TV licensing for BMG Music Publishing, will be based in N.Y.

"Ed's appointment is a part of our strategic plan to expand globally to take advantage of a major period of growth for the synch licensing market as a whole, and Ricall in particular," comments Richard Corbett, Ricall founder and CEO, in a statement.

Razzano drawns upon more than 15 years' experience in the music industry, in a career which has including stints at CBS Television, Universal Music Publishing and Spirit Music Group.

London-based Ricall, which was launched in 1998, claims to be the world's largest online music licensing marketplace, containing a library of more than four million tracks from 25,000 copyright owners.

Following a deal earlier this year with Sony BMG, Ricall struck a partnership in September to offer its users access to the BBC Motion Gallery archive, which contains more than 500,000 hours of footage.
