Virgin, Capitol Cut Staffers
February 07, 2007   |    By by Mike Boyle, N.Y.
Lay offs began today at Capitol Records and Virgin Records, two weeks EMI's North American pop, rock and urban operations were merged into single unit called The Capitol Music Group. Sources say that all departments will be impacted by the cuts.

Billboard has confirmed seven promotion staffers exiting Capitol: senior director of alternative and rock promotion Darren Eggleston; L.A. local representative Edie Lundeen; Cincinnati local Nicole Bonelli, Atlanta local Dwayne Ward; Denver local Jay Friedstein; L.A. staff assistant Al Izadmehr; and senior staff coordinator Latania Craig.

Sources say at least one veteran Capitol publicist has exited as well.

On the Virgin side, senior VP of A&R Brian Postelle and publicity manager Marlene Meraz have been let go, according to sources.
