Bryan Ferry will be presented with the BMI Icon honor at the U.S. performing rights society's annual London awards ceremony on Oct. 7.

The Roxy Music singer and solo artist will receive the award at the ceremony, held at the Dorchester hotel. The majority of the awards recognize the U.K., European and Jamaican songwriters among BMI's membership who had the most played songs on U.S. radio and TV.

Ferry's latest album album "Dylanesque" -- a collection of Bob Dylan covers -- was released by Virgin in 2007. The veteran U.K. songwriter is signed to EMI Music Publishing.

Previous winners of the Icon award include Peter Gabriel, Ray Davies, Van Morrison and Steve Winwood.

The BMI London Awards will be hosted by president and CEO Del Bryant and executive director, writer/publisher relations for Europe and Asia, Brandon Bakshi. The ceremony will also include an award for the most performed song of the year and certificates for writers and publishers whose songs have achieved more than three million plays on U.S. radio and TV.
