Gershon Joins Epic

February 21, 2007

By by Brian Garrity, N.Y.

Epic Records has named former V2 Records president Andy Gershon executive VP of the label. Gershon is based in New York and will report to Epic president Charlie Walk.

Most recently, Gershon headed up the recently folded V2 Records, whose roster included The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, Josh Ritter and Moby.

In his new role, Gershon will be responsible for helping Epic expand and diversify its roster in all genres of music. "I trust Andy's instincts on where musical tastes are going," Walk said in a statement. "He has always been one who doesn't conform to the constraints that are put on our business."

Gershon made his name managing the Smashing Pumpkins as well as bands like
Love and Rockets, the Cocteau Twins and the Sundays. In 1996, he formed Outpost Recordings (a joint venture with Geffen) with Mark Williams and Scott Litt - home to Days of the New, The Crystal Method and Veruca Salt.
