Midas Nashville Restructures, Gregory Finds New Home

July 31, 2008

By By Ken Tucker, Nashville

Independent Midas Records Nashville has restructured and the company's promotion staff, including VP of promotion Rob Dalton, has exited.

A core group of employees, including principals Brad Allen and Keith Follese, will remain as the label focuses on production and publishing.

As a result of the change, Canadian Adam Gregory, whose single is currently at No. 37 on Hot Country Songs, has signed with Big Machine Records. That company will take over promotion and distribution. He will still be affiliated with Midas and No Strings Attached Entertainment, which is run by his manager Lawrence Mathis.

"Adam is an artist who I would have signed to the label had I discovered him first," Big Machine president/CEO Scott Borchetta said in a prepared statement. Big Machine's roster includes Taylor Swift, Trisha Yearwood and Jack Ingram, among others.

Announcements regarding Midas acts Emerson Drive and Whiskey Falls are forthcoming, according to a company spokesman.

Meanwhile, there will be no change with Midas Records Christian act Rush of Fools. The current distribution and promotion agreement with EMI will remain in place. The group's second album, "Wonder of the World," is set to be released Sept. 16.
