September 03, 2008

By By Ayala Ben-Yehuda, L.A.

Luis Fonsi's "Palabras del Silencio" debuts on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart at No. 1 this week with the best sales week of his career.

The album on Universal Latino shifted about 30,000 copies in its debut week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making it the second-highest sales week this year for a Latin album. Only Luis Miguel's "Complices" sold more, with about 32,000 units sold in its debut week.

Fonsi's "No Me Doy Por Vencido" also unseated Flex' "Te Quiero" from the No. 1 spot on Hot Latin Songs this week. Flex had held the top spot for 20 non-consecutive weeks.
