Gibson Guitars took home an award Tuesday (Oct. 5) in San Francisco for the 'Best Branded App' at Billboard's Music App Summit. Their learning app Gibson Learn & Master Guitar beat out 50s Sound Lab Vitamin Water, and ZOOZbeat Sprite.Gibson partnered with Legacy Learning Systems for the award-winner, which combines guitar lessons and tablature with a tuner, chord library and metronome. Full-length videos and Gibson.com website integration helped the app reach 1.7 million downloads.
The 'Best Branded App' award closed Billboard's Mobile Entertainment Live! Music App Summit, which offered a day of awards, panels and keynotes from the likes of Evan Harrison of Clear Channel and Jim Lucchese, CEO of the Echo Nest. App Award judges were: MC Hammer, Daniel Klaus, Patrick Mork, Ian Rogers, Ralph Simon and Eliot Van Buskirk.
