New York attorney general Andrew Cuomo drew first blood on Friday morning (Oct. 10), when he announced he was suing Arbitron over it Portable People Meter (PPM), accusing Arbitron of deceptively claiming that its portable people meter (PPM) system is valid, fair, and representative of diverse radio markets. Now his neighbor to the south, New Jersey attorney general Anne Milgram, is suing the ratings company, charging that its use of the "new, unaccredited system for measuring listenership harms minority consumers and violates New Jersey's consumer fraud, advertising and anti- discrimination laws."
