Sarah Blasko Signs With Dramatico In Europe
November 23, 2009 - Global | Indies | Rock and Pop

By Lars Brandle, Brisbane

Australian songstress Sarah Blasko's critical and commercial hit album "As Day Follows Night" is slated for a pan-European release in partnership with U.K. indie Dramatico next March.

The ARIA Award-winner's third album will reach a European audience in 2010 through a licensing deal struck between her Brisbane-based label home Dew Process and Dramatico Entertainment, Mike Batt's London-based label.

Dramatico's roster includes Katie Melua, Florence Rawlings, Marianne Faithfull, Jem, Carla Bruni and Australian artist Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, whose debut album "Gurrumul" arrived in Europe this year via a joint-venture arrangement with Darwin-based Skinnyfish Music.

Dramatico has an enviable track record. Its best-selling artist, Melua, has shifted an estimated 13 million albums across Europe, according to the label.

Blasko will perform at the ARIA Awards in Sydney this Thursday (Nov. 26), where she is up for three gongs including album of the year and best female artist. "Night" is also shortlisted for the 2009 J Award -- Triple J's prize for the Australian album of the year.

The album was recorded in Stockholm with producer Björn Yttling of Peter, Björn and John.
