Santana, The Doors Reach Tentative Settlement With Wolfgang's Vault
August 26, 2008 - Legal and Management

By Ayala Ben-Yehuda, L.A.

A tentative settlement has been reached in a two-year-old case involving some classic rock acts against Wolfgang's Vault, which sells memorabilia and streams concert footage online.

Sony BMG Music Entertainment, BMG Music, Arista Records, Santana and the Doors have reached an agreement in principle with the Bill Graham Archive and its CEO William Sagan in a lawsuit brought by the bands' licensing companies and labels.

The 2006 suit alleged copyright infringement on Sagan's site, wolfgangsvault.com. A settlement amount was not disclosed in last week's filing with the U.S. District Court in San Jose, Calif.

The original lawsuit included as plaintiffs Grateful Dead Productions and members of Led Zeppelin, but the agreement in principle did not include those two parties.

Attorneys for Sony BMG and for Sagan could not be immediately reached for comment.
