The Mars Volta Anchors L.A.'s Detour Festival

The Mars Volta, Gogol Bordello, Shiny Toy Guns, the Presets, Cut Copy, Matt Costa and the Black Lips, among others, will lead this year's third annual LA Weekly Detour Music Festival, to be held Oct. 4 on Main and 1st Streets in downtown Los Angeles.

The event will also boast performances from Hercules and Love Affair, Grand Ole Party, Datarock, Bitter:Sweet, the Submarines, Adam Freeland, the Bloody Beetroots, Surkin, Para One, Guns n Bombs Live, Peanut Butter Wolf, Buraka Som Sistema, Nico Vega, Japanese Motors, the Mae Shi, We Are Wolves, Afternoons, Noah and the Whale, Mugison, donMoy, DJ Kid Lightning, Paparazzi and AC Means.

Tickets go on sale Friday (Aug. 1) via Ticketmaster. A portion of proceeds will from the $40.50 ticket price will benefit the non-profit organization Tree People, which works to find sustainable solutions to urban ecosystem problems.

Detour is booked by AEG Live touring arm Goldenvoice, best known for producing the annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, Calif.

Detour launched in 2006 with a lineup that included Beck, Queens Of The Stone Age, Peeping Tom and Basement Jaxx. Last year's event featured such acts as Bloc Party, Justice, Satellite Party, Kinky, the Comedians of Comedy, Turbonegro, Teddybears, Moving Units, the Raveonettes, Shout Out Louds and Autolux.
