--Garth Brooks, U2, John Mellencamp, Cat Stevens, and songwriting members of Earth Wind and Fire are among the big name performers/songwriters nominated
for the 2010 induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Ballots have been mailed to the organization's membership and the voting deadline is Dec. 11.

While two songwriters or songwriting teams will be chosen from the performing nominees, there will be three inductees from the non-performing songwriters.

The nominees in that category include Tommy Boyce /Bobby Hart, Jackie DeShannon, David Foster, and Jerry Ragovoy/Bert Berns. For a full list of inductees as well as biographies on each, visit the Songwriters Hall of Fame's Virtual Museum.

--The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) will now allow its members 24/7 access to see their catalog, performance and royalty information, via a secure, online portal.

Dubbed Member Access, the portal allows members to create designated users who are able to view and/or edit aspects of their membership, catalog or royalty data. It also allows publisher members to search and manage their works information, and download and sort statements by music user, by earnings, by domestic or international distribution and by distribution date ranges. And it gives members the ability to request and
receive PDFs or MS Excel copies of their catalog. Moreover, members can sign up for direct deposit, and they can go green by turning off paper statements.

In addition to launching Member Access, ASCAP has redesigned the home page of its Web site, which receives 2.5 million page views per month.
