Music industry veteran Derek Simon, who as previously reported is exiting Equity Music Group after serving as GM and interim president, joins recently launched Stroudavarious Records as VP of marketing and artist development.
After working in New York at Columbia Records, Roadrunner Records and Universal Records, Simon moved to Nashville in 2002 as VP of marketing for Universal Music Group Nashville's Lost Highway Records. Two years later he joined the staff at Equity as senior VP of marketing and artist development.
The first release for Stroudavarious will come from Darryl Worley this fall, with projects to follow later from Richie McDonald and Anthony Smith. The label is headed by Music Row veteran James Stroud.
