Analyst: Entertainment Spending To Slow In '08
April 22, 2008 - Digital and Mobile

By Antony Bruno, Denver

New NPD Group data suggests that U.S. spending on entertainment products and devices is likely to slow down this year. According to the research firm, 37% of Americans say they will spend less on digital entertainment products this year than they did last year. Only 18% said they anticipated spending more, while 48% expected to spend the same. NPD analyst Russ Crupnick blames both the economy and a lack of new gadgets.

Additionally, he points out that of those who do plan to spend more this year, their dollars will go to new devices like gaming consoles or DVD players, and not content, like DVDs or music.
