Aim Elects D’Arcy Vice-Chairman
October 03, 2008 - Global | Indies

By Andre Paine, London

U.K. independent labels trade body AIM has elected Doug D’Arcy, managing director of the music consultancy, management and investment company Songlines, as vice-chairman.

D’Arcy takes over from board member and Chrysalis Music Division CEO Jeremy Lascelles, who completed his tenure in June. AIM’s board of directors made the decision at their September meeting.

D’Arcy is chairman of the cross-industry Music Export Group, backed by the government body U.K. Trade and Investment, and a member of AIM’s government relations committee. He began working in the music business as a booking agent in 1968 and was later managing director and president of Chrysalis Records, which was sold to EMI.

“I am particularly happy to be the vice-chairman of AIM going into its tenth year,” he said in a statement. “I think at this time of challenge and change the independent community’s willingness to offer a commitment to creativity an radical strategies is more relevant than ever.”
