Universal Music Group (UMG) and leading technology company HP has confirmed the launch of its music download partnership in 18 countries across South-East Asia.
As previously reported, the partnership will enable customers who purchase an Intel-powered HP ENVY, HP Pavilion, HP TouchSmart, or HP Mini consumer notebook PC to register for the free download service with a PIN access code at www.music4myhp.com.
Users can access UMG's current music releases and back catalog and download up to 1,120 songs over a 12-month period. Of these songs, 1,000 will expire after a year, while the user can keep 120 of the downloads.
The service officially launches on Nov. 28 although the exact start date will vary in the different markets.
"People are experiencing music over a variety of platforms, and we believe the rich entertainment experience presented by HP's extensive range of PCs and notebooks will help us to further engage music fans," said Sandy Monteiro, VP of digital, Universal Music South-East Asia, in a statement. "The combination of our diverse international music portfolio and HP's significant market share for innovative devices is a win-win-win partnership for HP, Universal Music and music fans."
Dennis Mark, VP of marketing, HP Personal Systems Group, Asia Pacific and Japan, added: "Consumers are increasingly streaming and storing their favourite music files on their PC. Our partnership with Universal Music will amplify consumers' entertainment gratification and make their notebook a one-stop shop for all their multimedia needs."
