Mitch Wolk has been promoted to president of the Alternative Distribution Alliance. He will report to Andy Allen, who - after coming back from a seven-month leave of absence - has been named chairman of independent music for the Warner Music Group.
Allen had been president of ADA since May of 1993 and left in November to take some time off for sailing. During Allen's leave of absence, Wolk had been overseeing ADA as executive VP. He was appointed to that position in 2006, after joining the WMG in 2005. Prior to joining the WMG, Wolk was at RED for 14 years, culminating in his appointment as senior VP of finance and administration at RED,
"Mitch has proven himself to be the ideal executive to lead the company while Andy focuses on WMG's global independent music strategy," said WEA president and CEO John Esposito in a statement.
"I will be working hard everyday to maintain the spirit and culture Andy has put in place with a singular focus on remaining the best resource for our indie partners and their outstanding artists, Wolk said in a statement.
Allen, who reports to Esposito, will concentrate on growing ADA and building an infrastructure suited for indie label and artists, according to the press release.
