Alexander, Werre Helm New EMI Units
March 03, 2008 - Global

By Lars Brandle, London

EMI Group chairman Guy Hands continues to ring the changes, creating two new recorded music business units focusing on exploiting catalog and synch opportunities.

EMI Music Catalogue, Compilations, Studios and Archives (CCSA) has been established, with a brief of enhancing the opportunities for EMI's catalog. London-based Stephen Alexander -- who has served for the past five years as managing director at Terra Firma, Hands' equity firm which bought EMI last year -- becomes executive VP of the CCSA division.

His immediate priorities, according to a statement, "are to ensure the continued delivery of targeted consumer products, in multiple formats, derived from EMI's rich and varied catalog."

Meanwhile, EMI Music Licensing and Synch has been created, with Ronn Werre rising to executive VP of the unit. Werre, who joined EMI Music 10 years ago as VP of major accounts, was promoted in 2005 to president of EMI Music Marketing in North America, overseeing sales, catalog, synch, licensing and special markets.

In his new role, L.A.-based Werre, who continues in the role as executive VP of global sales, will be tasked with maximising licensing revenue opportunities for the group and its artists.

"I am looking forward to working with Stephen and Ronn in these important roles," comments Hands in a statement. "We have a responsibility to all our artists to maximise the returns on their music, both when newly released and over many years. Stephen's and Ronn's skills and drive will deliver real benefits to them."

Alexander and Werre report to Hands.
