Wu: The Story of the Wu Tang Clan" will be screened this fall at the 12th annual Urbanworld Film Festival, presented by BET, in New York, Billboard.biz has learned. The rest of the festival, scheduled to take place September 10-14, lineup is still being finalized.
Earlier this year BET announced a three-year partnership with the festival making it the exclusive global telecast/video partner meaning the network would provide coverage of the festival both on its network and online. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 2007 documentary, directed by Gerald Barclay, follows the tumultuous rap group from Staten Island and includes footage of deceased member ODB. Following its screening, which is not part of the competition at Urbandworld, it will subsequently be shown on the BET Network and then released on DVD.
Festival representatives say that Wu-Tang member RZA is confirmed to attend while Method Man and Ghostface have been invited but have yet to confirm that they will attend.
